A student at Sava has become the first to achieve the Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation and be welcomed into the RICS fold.

The student completed both training and assessment for the diploma in just 15 months, achieving the qualification in December 2015. Since then, he has been accepted into RICS as an Associate member and will begin his career with the AssocRICS designation after his name.  The news comes just 18 months after the school’s launch in 2014.

Hilary Grayson, Head of Surveying Services at the SAVA School of Surveying, comments:

“This was a very momentous day and my heartfelt congratulations go to this student and everyone in the Sava team for this significant achievement. He was a dedicated student and really immersed himself in the qualification so we are pleased to see him progress so quickly. May he be the first of many!

“It is gratifying to know that, working with Sava, we can unlock the potential of new surveyors – people who will undoubtedly be a real credit to the profession but for whom the traditional routes to membership are closed.”

According to a recent RICS info-graphic, over 50% of the UK RICS membership is now over 50 years old  and routes into the profession are limited. The Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation was created by SAVA to address the impending skills shortage and offer those without a relevant degree the opportunity to train from scratch.

“With the launch of the London course and more successful learners joining RICS, 2016 is set to be a great year for Sava,” Hilary goes on to say, “and we hope that the achievement of our first graduate will go a long way to showing others just what the diploma can offer.”
